The aim of the Shakti Project of Rajasthan is to empower streechildren through education.
Future Projects
This is a bit of a mystery subject at present. Shakti Project is struggling to stay afloat... but our children are flourishing they are growing, maturing and will one day need to find work.
Being able to read and write is a definite improvement to their job prospects, but there is a chronic lack of jobs.
For some, small business training and ideas to start projects to create small businesses will help some of these children support themselves in the future.
Any observations, suggestions, offers to give training greatly appreciated.
Our First Step ! Monica Davidson of Freelance Success http://freelancesuccess.com/ is supplying a training package for the older youth, introducing them to small business basics, helping prepare them for life after school.
Note; Any type of skills development is good- for young ones crafts, - come and teach a couple of kids to knit up to more formal lessons is good. An afternoon up to a longer stay will make a difference.
Older ones -design postcards to print and sell, make jam, develop performance skills for our puppet shows, what ideas and skills do you have? We are talking about foundations to seed small business- jobs are scarce around here, tourists are plentiful so a market is there for many things.
Intelligent use of the hands in a child develops problem solving skills and learning pathways in the youth and adult.
